Location
We are based in Hoxton, London and operate a “office-first” hybrid model

About the Role
Reporting directly to Jonathan (CTO & Co-founder), you will work closely with the founding team to drive the technical execution of our platform. This is a key strategic hire for the next phase of our growth, and you will play a critical role in shaping the technology, defining what to build, and ensuring we deliver exceptional value to our customers and users.
As our first Engineering Manager hire, this role offers significant ownership and impact. You will have the opportunity to scale our technology, influence the company’s trajectory, and establish the foundation for a high-performing engineering function and culture as we expand.
What you’ll be doing
As Engineering Manager, you will drive technical direction and manage the engineering team while collaborating closely with product, design, and other teams to deliver impactful solutions. This is a 50/50 management and hands-on engineering role.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Defining Technical Strategy: Partner with the CTO to establish the long-term technical vision and strategy for our platform.
- Team Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing engineering team, mentoring and supporting team members to achieve their potential.
- Building and Scaling the Platform: Lead the end-to-end technical execution of features, improvements, and systems that provide exceptional value to our customers.
- Architectural Leadership: Understand the Borderless platform as a whole, making key architectural decisions to ensure scalability, reliability while ensuring a great developer experience.
- Infrastructure: Design and Implement significant changes to our system. E.g introducing feature branch deployments in our CI/CD pipeline
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product and design teams to translate business needs into technical requirements and seamless implementations.
- Driving Quality: Implement best practices for code quality, testing, and deployment to ensure the robustness and maintainability of the platform.
